The French Camel Federation (FFC) continues its commitment to developing camel and dromedary sports and leisure activities in France. To meet growing demand and to support young French people in discovering the sport and leisure riding of dromedaries and riding camels, a unique training center has been established.

A Center Dedicated to the Training of Camel Jockeys

Located in Picardy, the camel jockey training center is a structure dedicated to transmitting the know-how necessary for the practice of sport and leisure riding on camelids. Supervised by Olivier Philipponneauhttps://www.lanouvellerepublique.fr/poitiers/le-dromadaire-ma-ouvert-au-monde
, camel driver and former dromedary jockey, trainees learn to master riding techniques, understand animal behavior and develop skills to participate in races and sporting demonstrations in France and internationally.

The center's program includes:

- Introduction to riding at amble and gallop
- Mastery of running and endurance techniques
- Approach to the behavior and well-being of camelids
- Development of physical and tactical skills of jockeys

An Exceptional Immersion: Report with Océane and Florence

The FFC works to promote and respect camels and dromedaries in France. Through training courses for jockeys and dromedaries, we prepare our athlete jockeys for races and demonstrations on French racetracks.

In this report, Océane shares her experience on this video during the training course at the French jockey training center on the Dromadaires de Picardie structure, on March 22 and 23, 2025. An immersion in the world of sport riding dromedary racing, where they learn to ride them at an amble and a gallop!
